Why You Shouldn't Ask the Question "What Next?"
If you love to read inspiring articles, this one is for you.
"What next?" That's often the question I hear after someone has experienced two or more consecutive "bad" events in their life. They feel as if a bad streak of luck has hit them and their mind is trapped in the world of "only bad things will happen to me."
After observing what happens to not only myself but also others who ask the question "What next?", I have come to the conclusion that asking this question is THE WORST question to ever ask. That's because whatever question your mind poses forces your mind to seek its solution. Your brain then becomes determined to find out what else could possibly happen that is bad, and believe me, things will come your way that will shock you. The longer you ask the question, the more you can expect a roller coaster ride in life
Never, never ask the question "What next?"
I learned about how the mind worked from my training in anatomy, physiology, pathology, neuroanatomy, neurology, and as a memory expert training students how to learn.
Whatever question you pose becomes what your mind, your brain and your existence becomes almost obsessed with. Think about it. What questions did you ask as a child? Was it questions such as:
- Who will I marry?
- When can I be a _____?
- What college will I attend?
- How can I make this recipe better?
- Why does Mary do _______?
- What can I do to stop being bored?
- What is the answer to why_________?
- What will Mommy think about _______?

How many of those questions that you asked became a reality? Probably quite a few of them.
Pose a Different Question and You Change Your Life
Every question you pose in life becomes a springboard for answers. Your brain, the subconscious, needs something to do to occupy itself while you take care of normal everyday activities. Every question becomes an order to yourself to find the answer. That's why your questions must be screened by you. Don't ask "What next?" unless you really want something else that is bad to happen.
Instead, ask questions such as:
- When can I complete ____ project?
- How can I start seeing good things happen again?
- Where will I be when the next good thing happens to me?
- How can I help others with ____?
- Who will I have a good marriage with?
- What exciting things can I do to fill my time?
It's the quality of your questions that determines your life. The questions you ask to yourself and others determines your mental health and life experiences to come. Ask good and great questions for a great life. Ask questions like "What next?" if you want to continue a downward trend. It's really that simple.
